L'autore del dipinto è in realtà Ignazio Unterberger (1748 - 1797). Il dipinto fu venduto con l'attribuzione al Correggio e Raffaello Morghen nel 1795 lo incise come autentico e lo rese famoso . - Cfr. MUSSINI M., 1995, p. 282, n. 670. Ivi, per errore materiale, si dice l'A. attivo a Roma tra il 1729 e il 1767 . - Sotto, dedica del Pavon alla Contessa de Kotschoubey
